Now polio drop administration at Ardh Kumbh gates
Lucknow, Jan 5: The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Uttar Pradesh Health department have concieved a unique plan to administer pulse polio drops to children.
Beginning January 7, over 280 civil defence volunteers would be deployed at the entry points of the notified Ardh Kumbh district in Allahabad to administer pulse polio drops to children entering the venue.
Health department oficials said here that 144 teams of two members each would ensure that all children up to five years of age are administered the dose.
The special Ardh Kumbh drive would continue for 51 days till the event is over and the district is denotified.
The drive would ensure that children from across the country are administered the dose as they enter the venue.
Civil Defence volunteers have been selected for the job as they are trained in managing pulse polio drives launched from time to time.
