New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission has sought a report within two weeks from Noida District Collector about a media report which said an abandoned boy was being looked after by a tea stall owner.

The television report said Jitender was abandoned in sedated condition by an unidentified man a week ago and was being looked after by a tea stall owner instead of being in protective custody of a Government institution.

After going through the contents of the report, the Commission said if true the incident raise serious issue of violation of human rights of the child.

The December 28 report said police were called in but when the boy could not say anything about his parents, they left him at the tea stall.

Police and the administrative authorities were not available for comments on the rehabilitation and protection of Jitendra, it added.

''It is not clear how the boy will be handed over to the right authority as Uttar Pradesh does not have a specific Government body to protect such children,'' it said.
