NEEPCO implementing upcomming hydel projects in NE

Shillong, Jan 5 (UNI) The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) is currently implementing a number of hydro and thermal projects in the North Eastern region, official sources said.

Feasibility reports were under preparation for setting up of coal-based thermal projects in West Khasi Hills (240 MW), Garo Hills (720 MW) in Meghalaya, Margherita (480 MW) in Asom and Monarchak gas-based project (100 MW) in Tripura.

Sources said the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are under preparation for hydro-based projects in Meghalaya, such as for Mawhu (120 MW).

In Arunachal Pradesh, DPRs have been completed for hydroelectric projects such as for Pare (110MW), Ranganadi Stage II (130 MW) and Demwe (3000 MW).

Presently, NEEPCO has 755 MW hydro and 375 MW gas-based thermal projects in the NE region and had completed projects of 1130 MW.
