Lucknow, Jan 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav tonight agreed to seek separate CBI probe into the Nithari serial killings and the alleged murder of Meerut University ad hoc lecturer Kavita Rani Chaudhury.

Mr Yadav announced the decision at a hurriedly convened press conference at his official residence here.

The state government would shortly ask the central agency to carry out both the probes.

''Since the Governor too had suggested a CBI probe into Nithari killings, I have ordered the same,'' he said slamming the Opposition of carrying out ''bad politics'' over the bodies of the victims.

The Chief Minister maintained his officials too had suggested for a CBI probe into the two cases.

''The state police had already worked out the two crimes...there was pressure and the Governor too had suggested for a central probe.

Therefore, I have ordered the same,'' he added.

He also congratulated SSP (Gautam Buddha Nagar) R P S Rathore for the speedy investigations in the Nithari killings. ''I thank them for their work,'' he added.

Kavita Rani was allegedly 'eliminated' for exploiting her relations with at least one UP minister and a former minister from Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
