Asian stocks listed on Wall Street edged up

SYDNEY, Jan 5: Asian stocks listed on Wall Street edged up 0.06 percent as Japan's Hitachi and NEC all rose following gains in the Japanese market, but China plays sagged a day after a strong rally.

U.S. stocks also advanced, led by technology shares after a broker's positive comment on chip maker Intel Corp. .

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 1.25 percent, while the blue-chip Dow inched up 0.05 percent.

On Thursday in Asia, MSCI's measure of regional stocks excluding Japan fell 1.65 percent to a one-week low, posting its biggest fall since mid-July 2006. It was also the market's second straight session of decline after reaching an intra-day record high on Jan. 3.
