K'taka Police to seek assistance from J

Bangalore, Jan 5 (UNI) Karnataka police will seek assistance from Jammu and Kashmir and Central Intelligence to unearth motive and objective of a Pakistan based terrorist, who was arrested in the early hours in the City, Inspector General and Director General of Police K R Srinivasan said today.

Talking to mediapersons here he said that it will also be unearthed if the motive of the extremists was to allegedly make Karnataka as their base.

He said that on receiving a definite tip about a terrorist traveling in a private bus with arms and ammunition from Hospet, the Anti-terrorist Cell and State Intelligence formed a crack team and nabbed Imran alias Bilal (32) on the outskirts of the city as he was alighting from the bus.

Mr Srinivasan said there was little resistance from Imran, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir. On search of his bags one AK assault rifle, 300 rounds of ammunition, 4 AK 47 magazines, 5 hand grenades were found.

The police also recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, a satellite phone and few documents along with his clothes. The documents also contained a map of the Bangalore city superscribing the markings of important locations.

He said the suspected terrorist was being taken to police custody for further interrogation. The nationality of the arrested was yet to be established.

Describing the arrest as important breakthrough in busting the terrorists base in the State, Mr Srinivasan said the extremist was booked under the Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act.
