Kolkata experiences coldest day so far
Kolkata, Jan 5 (UNI) The city today experienced the season's coldest day so far with the minimum temperature dipping to 11.4 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature yesterday was 23 degree Celsius and the minimum was 12 degree Celsius, Met department said.
The Met officials said that there was a possibility of temperature slumping further. They attributed the cold to North Westerly winds.
Kolkata had experienced a temperature of 6.7 degree celsius on January 20, 1989, making the day the coldest so far in the city's history.
Met sources have also warned of moderate to thick fog in the next 24 hours.
The minimum temperature in Darjeeling was 1.7 degree Celsius, Malda 10.7, Cooch Behar 10.2 and Jalpaiguri 10.4 degree Celsius, Met department added.
