Kalam arrives in TN

Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Jan 4 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam arrived here tonight from New Delhi in an Indian Air Force (IAF) special aircraft.

Mr Kalam was given a warm reception at Tiruchirapally airport on his arival at 2305 hrs by state School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu, District Collector Ashish Vachchani, City Corporation Mayor Sarubala R Thondaiman and senior police and revenue officials.

After an overnight stay at the government new circuit house here, the President would leave for Chidambaram in a special helicopter tomorrow morning, to address the ongoing 94th session of the Indian Science Congress and would inaugurate the Children's Science Congress.

Tight security arrangements were made by the police in and around Tiruchirapalli city in view of the President's visit.
