JD (S) legislators off to Amby Valley

Bangalore, Jan 5: A large number of legislators belonging to the Janata Dal (S), a coalition partner in Karnataka led by Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy today left for Amby Valley near Pune for a three day brainstorming session aimed at reviving the prospects of the party.

Defending the three-day trip Mr Kumaraswamy told newsmen here that the party and the government needed a climate that was conducive to take some special decisions in connection with the strengthening of the party and performance of the 10-month old government.

Mr Kumarswamy said the purpose of the visit the resort to review the functioning of his government was decided last month as it would soon complete one year.

"There is no special importance of JD (S) holding the meeting at a resort outside the capital as it is done by other political parties also," he justified.

A special stress would be given for the revival of the party and chalking out future programmes for the development of the state with an open minded discussion with legislators, he said.

He said that the decisions on the cabinet expansion and appointment to the Boadrs and Corporations would also be taken up at the meeting.

Mr Kumarswmsy also aprpreciated the police force in arresting a terrorist in the city and they would be appropriately would be honoured.

The Chief Minister along with his party Ministers and legislators numbering 66 left by a chartered flight to Pune to take part in the meeting to be held at Ambi Valley, one of the expensive resorts in the country.
