Israeli army raids W Bank village: Witnesses
Tulkarm (West Bank), Jan 5: Israeli forces raided a village near the occupied West Bank town of Tulkarm today in a search for a wanted Palestinian militant, witnesses said.
The raid came one day after four Palestinians were killed and at least 25 wounded when Israeli forces pushed into the centre of the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Witnesses near Tulkarm said Israeli soldiers searched houses in the village of Attil, looking for Abdel-Mo'ti Hassan, a militant from the Islamic Jihad group.
The troops entered the village in nearly 20 armoured vehicles but left without capturing Hassan, 26, witnesses said.
The army said it was checking the report.
Israeli forces have mounted frequent raids in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Palestinian uprising in 2000.
