India's HC Designate to Pak to present credentials on Jan 9

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) India's High Commissioner Designate to Pakistan, Satyabrata Paul, will present his credentials to Pakistan on January 9, Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner Afrasiab said here today.

Pakistan's High Commissioner Designate to India, Shahid Malik, is expected to present his credentials to President A P J Abdul Kalam ''in the near future,'' Mr Afsariab said.

''We are awaiting dates from the Indian Protocol,'' he said.

He said Mr Malik had made a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran on December 29.

''It was good meeting that lasted about 35 minutes,'' he added.

Mr Paul who succeeds Mr Shivshankar Menon, was appointed High Commissioner to Pakistan. Mr Menon took over the Foreign Secretary while Mr Malik took over from Mr Aziz Ahmad Khan.
