The Dow Jones industrial average was down 34.37 points, or 0.28 percent, at 12,446.32. The Standard&Poor's 500 Index was down 4.61 points, or 0.33 percent, at 1,413.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 14.14 points, or 0.58 percent, at 2,439.29.
