Indexes sag at open on Motorola, rate worry
NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) US stocks opened lower on Friday as Motorola Inc.'s disappointing outlook rekindled concerns about future corporate profits, while a report showing stronger-than-expected job growth tempered hopes for a cut in interest rates.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 34.37 points, or 0.28 percent, at 12,446.32. The Standard&Poor's 500 Index was down 4.61 points, or 0.33 percent, at 1,413.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 14.14 points, or 0.58 percent, at 2,439.29.
Motorola shares fell 10 percent to .38.
