Humanisation should be part of globalisation: NHRC

Gulbarga, Jan 5 (UNI) National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairperson Mr Justice Shivraj V Patil today said modernisation, liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation should have an element of humanisation.

Delivering the keynote address at a seminar on 'Human rights and human dignity', organised by the Gulbarga University and Gulbarga Citizens Forum here, he said human rights for all should not merely remain as a declaration on paper, but must be the spirit of living in day-to-day life.

''The record of the legislature and judiciary in promoting human rights in the country has been quite impressive. The problem of human rights is not only a legal problem...it has effects on society, economy and even culture,'' Mr Justice Patil felt.

Giving a clarion call to protect human rights, he said the battle for prevention of violation of human rights should be fought with sincerity and commitment. He exhorted all institutions and individuals to keep unshaken faith in the observance of human rights to make the lives of human beings worthy of living with diginity and grace.
