Homos kill selves in MP

Khargone, MP, Jan 5 (UNI) Lovers' suicide pacts are commonplace but two 18-year-old homosexual tribal women have killed themselves in this district.

The police said that Dankheda village's Gomti Bhilala and the neighbouring Nankoda village's Mamta were friends since birth. After they grew up, friendship changed to love and they allegedly began living as husband and wife.

Gomti dressed in pants and shirts. The duo even told their families of their desire to marry. Saddened over society's taunts and their relatives' annoyance, the women consumed poisonous substances at their homes yesterday.

They were rushed, in critical condition, to a hospital at Jhiranya where Gomti succumbed while Mamta died at Khargone's government hospital.

Though the families denied homosexuality, villagers said that the women exchanged love letters. Gomti had studied upto the fifth standard.
