Gunmen kill seven, injure as many in Tinsukia
Guwahati, Jan 5 (UNI) Suspected Ulfa gunmen shot dead seven labourers and wounded as many at two bricklins in Asom's Tinsukia district this evening, police said.
Five gunmen came in a three-wheeler and fired indiscriminately killing three on the spot and seriously wounding five others, all from Bihar, at Namsakka village in Upper Asom. Police said it was a case of extortion and the operation was pre-meditated at 1800 hours.
Among the injured was the owner of bricklin Raju Jaiswal.
In a similar attack at Tiwari gola in Duliajan of the same district, gunmen killed four labourers and injured two of a bricklin. The second offensive was completed in few seconds in just fifteen minutes apart from the first one, police added. In this case, all the victims were Asomese.
All the injured were hospitalised with serious wounds.
Security froces launched combing operations to flush out the killers.
