Gulbarga airport to have lengthy runway
Gulbarga, Jan 5 (UNI) Jumbo 747 Boeing aircraft landing in the Gulbarga airport may soon become a reality as the plan for the ongoing airport construction work has been altered to extend the length of the runway to 3,003 metres.
Disclosing details about the airport here today, Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey said 567 acres of land had been acquired and as per the new plan for a lengthy runway, an additional 125 acres of land was needed. It would be acquired soon at a cost of Rs five crore. A lambadi thanda would be shifted from the acquired land soon, he added.
He said Rs 8.5 crore had been spent so far out of the Rs ten crore released for the project. Construction of compound wall for the airport was under progress.
