EC reschedules date of polls for 29 assemblies in Manipur

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) said today that elections to 29 assemblies of Manipur will be held on February 14 instead of the next day.

Elections for 29 assembly constituencies falling in three districts of East Imphal, West Imphal and Bishenpur were scheduled to go for polling in second phase on February 15.

Requests were made by certain individuals and political parties of the state for changing the date of poll as a local festival will be celebrated on February 15, according to an official statement.

There will be no other change in the programme and dates of notification, last date of nominations, scrutiny and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will remain unaltered.
