DPI stages demonstration over Saddam's execution
Chennai, Jan 5: Members of the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI), led by General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan, staged a demonstration here today over the execution of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on December 30.
The demonstrators shouted anti-Bush and anti-US slogans.
Mr Thirumavalavan, joint general secretary Selva Perunthagai, MLAs and others condemned the ''authoritarian attitude'' of the US and termed the execution a ''brutal murder''.
They wanted that US-UK forces be pulled out of Iraq immediately.
In a press release, DPI spokesman Vanni Arasu said the demonstration was held as part of its state-wide week-long agitation from today. Similar demonstrations had been staged in all district headquarters in the state, he added.
