Kolkata, Jan 5 (UNI) The Cricket Association of Bengal today accepted Jagmohan Dalmiya's resignation from the post of president of the state body and announced the next meeting on January nine to fix the date for election procedure.

Talking to reporters, CAB Secreatary Saradindu Pal said, ''We have accepeted his resignation and fixed the date of the next meeting for January nine when we will announce the date of the special general body meeting to elect or nominate the next president.'' ''We are going to elect the next president in the AGM style. We will give a 14-day notice and send nomination forms to all the affiliated units. The election process will have to be completed within 60 days from January nine,'' he added.

With former CAB and BCCI president B N Dutta making it amply clear that he will not be contest the elections if police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee was in the fray, it now looks like a cakewalk for the top cop.

Prasun Mukherjee had announced his intention to fight for the post of the president on December 31 and with a sizeable section of Dalmiya loyalists breaking away and shaking hands with the Police Commissioner, his victory seems easy.

Its only a matter of time before the formal handing over of the baton takes place, even as curtains fall on the Dalmiya regime, for now at least.
