Cow carcasses: Bandh in MP town
Mandsaur, MP, Jan 5 (UNI) Isolated clashes took place today in this district headquarters where a total bandh was observed in response to a call by pro-Hindu organisations protesting against about 100 cows' carcasses found yesterday within empty slate mines at Pityakhedi village roughly 10 km from here, the police said.
Bandh supporters attempted to damage a few shops and vehicles.
Even medicine shops were shut. The Bharatiya Janata Party also supported the agitation called by the Hindu Jagran Manch. Groups of youth were seen moving in the town and forcing closure of some shops and a nursing home.
''Twenty five persons were detained. The situation is under control and the police exercised mild force to disperse miscreants at a couple of locations,'' said District Collector Nitesh Vyas. An attempt to torch a shop was foiled.
