Congress Patiala councillor joins SAD with supporters

Patiala, Jan 5 (UNI) Congress in this constituency represented by Capt Amarinder Singh today received another jolt when a municipal councillor Amarbir Kaur Bedi joined arch rival Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) with hundreds of her supporters.

Already DCC general secretaries Balwinder Singh Bedi and Vijay Sharma 'Pandit', District INTUC Chairman Paramjit Singh Choudary, DCC secretary Chranjit Singh Sodhi, Punjab Youth Congress(PYC) vice president Pushpinder Singh Lote have come to SAD fold in the Chief Minister's stronghold.

Welcoming Ms Kaur, SAD president Parkash Singh Badal said that many more were in waiting to join his party due to failure of Capt Amarinder Singh on all fronts. Congress workers had been feeling insulted in that party, he alleged.

Meanwhile, All India Rice Millers association has decided to support SAD unconditionally. Tarasem Saini, President of the association said that Punjab Government had failed to protect rights of traders and rice shellers in the state.
