Chhattisgarh enters pre-quarter via tie-breaker
Puducherry, Jan 5 (UNI) Chhattisgarh entered the pre-quarterfinals of the fifth National Junior Girls Football Tournament by defeating Madhya Pradesh 4-3 via tie-breaker here today.
With the scoreboard remaining blank at the end of regulation time, the tie-breaker was resorted to, in which Chhattisgarh managed to score four goals against three by Madhya Pradesh.
In fact, the two teams played a second time against each other as the earlier preliminary league match between them ended in a draw (1-1) and the third team in the pool, Assam, did not turn up. Today's match was to break the deadlock.
In another encounter, Meghalaya outclassed Chandigarh 6-1.
