Shimla, Jan 5 (UNI) BJP Vice President and former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma today claimed that the party was on a comeback trail in Himachal Pradesh and would win at least 17 or 18 seats in 25-member Shimla Municipal Corporation and oust Congress from power in next Assembly election slated for February.

Addressing the state council meeting of Himachal Pradesh BJP here, he said though the BJP had never won the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections, but it would make a history by winning this round.

Mr Verma said the party was fully united in the state and the unanimous election of Mr Jai Ram Thakur was proof of the party's inherent strength to evolve consensus on all important issues.

The BJP had the capacity to increase its tally from two seats to 198 seats in the Lok Sabha and the party's mass support would be demonstrated in coming Assembly elections, he said.

He accused the UPA government of failure on all fronts and said that its performance on employment, price rise, governance and national security fronts was dismal.

Speaking on the occasion, former union minister Shanta Kumar charged the UPA government with creating grounds for another division of the country by following the policy of appeasement of the minorities.
