Banking operations hit in AP RRBs

Hyderabad, Jan 5 (UNI) Banking operations in all the branches of the five Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the Andhra Pradesh were affected the following the one-day strike by employees to press their demands as part of the nationwide agitation.

Andhra Pradesh Regional Rural Banks Employess Associaton General Secretary S Venkateswara Reddy said in a statement all the 1,200 branches in the state remained closed due to strike.

He said dharnas were held in front of the five head offices, the 11 regional offices and at the district headquarters.

Mr Reddy said the employees went on strike on the call given by the Joint Forum of Gramin banks Unions comprising seven unions in RRBs.

The demands included parity of allowances with commerical banks, parity of pension and retirement benefits, restoring compassionate appointments and business linked recruitment and promotions.
