Arrested minors sent to juvenile home

Mumbai. Jan 5 (UNI) Three youth, arrested last evening from near the Gateway of India and booked for theft, were produced before a local court here which sent two of them to a juvenile home and remanded the third in police custody till January 12.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S S Sisodhe remanded Rizwan Sheikh (19) in police custody till January 12, while sending Abid Ali Sheikh (17) and Chand Ali Shah (17) to a Juvenile home as they are minors.

On December 31, a group of rowdy New Year revellers had ripped off the skirt of an unidentified woman at the Gateway of India.

Acting on the basis of photographs published in a local daily and following a tip off, the Ghatkopar police had rounded up three youth. Upon interrogation, the three have confessed to having cornered the victim with the intention rob her mobile, police have claimed.
