3-day GIHED property show gets underway at Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jan 5 (UNI) Gujarat Urban Development Minister I K Jadeja today inaugurated the Gujarat Institute of Housing and Estate Developer (GIHED)'s third three-day property show, ''Brand Ahmedabad: Target 2020'', at the GMDC Ground here.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jadeja claimed that the Gujarat Government, in February 2005, had come out with an ''Urban Vision Plan'' even before the Centre could think of it. It is only later that the Centre came out with its National Urban Renewal Mission in November 2005, he said.

Mr Jadeja stressed that the Gujarat Government was committed to usher in a ''work culture'' in the real estate sector and there would no favouritism shown towards any builder or developer.

He also stressed that the Gujarat Government was committed to supplying ''pure drinking water'' through all civic corporations and other bodies by this year's end.

GIHED president Jaxay Shah, speaking on the occasion, said ''Target 2020'' is a platform to enable Ahmedabad to be developed not only as a global business hub, but also as one of the best cities to live in.

Over 60 corporates and real estate developers from the city, Surat, Baroda and Rajkot are participating in the show apart apart from Reliance industries, Raheja, DLF, Unitech, Adani, Aterco, ICICI Bank Home Loans, HDFC Home Loans, SBI Home Loans, and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Eminent architect Balakrishna V Joshi, while speaking on the occasion, said Ahmedabad needs one single comprehensive plan for its development. The city was nominated as the World Heritage site because of its sustainability, Mr Joshi pointed out.

The GIHED event is about showcasing SEZs and IT parks along with major upcoming infrastructure projects for the future.
