111 stranded passengers airlifted to and from Kargil

Kargil, Jan 5 (UNI) As many as 78 passengers stranded here since November last year were today airlifted to Srinagar, official sources said.

The Army operated two sorties of AN-32 to airlift the passnegers stranded here since the closure of 422-km Srinagar-Leh national highway in the second week of November last year.

The sources said about 33 stranded passengers were also airlifted from Srinagar to here.

They said still 100-150 stranded passengers were eagerly waiting here to be airlifted to Srinagar.
