Vijayashanthi to go on hunger strike

Hyderabad, Jan 4 (UNI) Telugu film actress and President of Talli Telangana Party (TTP) Vijayashanthi today announced that she would go on hunger strike from January 8, to press the demand for nine-hour quality power supply to agricultural sector in the backward Telangana region.

Speaking to newspersons here, Ms Vijayashanthi said she would launch the hunger strike at Indira Park on January 8 and it would continue till the demands were consented by the Andhra Paradesh government.

Demanding that the Congress clarify its stand on a seperate Telangana, she alleged the party was cheating the people of the region by not bifurcating the state as it promised during the elections.

Stating that she was not joining the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS), Ms Vijayashanthi said the TTP will intensify agitation for a seperate Telangana state in the near future.
