MP govt to firm up Cow Protection Act

Seoni, MP, Jan 4 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said his government would table a bill in the Assembly for getting rid of lacunae in the Cow Protection Act.

''The state government has taken the battle for cow protection even to the Supreme Court,'' he said at Samrasta Sammelan here.

Among those present were state Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Chandrabhan Singh, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sahsarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Jain seer Vinaysagar Ji Maharaj.

''Under the Kanyadaan Scheme, 14,000 daughters of impoverished families were wed last year. Fresh schemes are on the anvil. The first and second daughters of poor families will have bank accounts created in their names and receive Rs one lakh upon completion of 21 years.
