Chhota Shakeel aide killed in encounter

Mumbai, Jan 4 (UNI) A notorious gangster, owing allegiance to underworld don Chhota Shakeel, was shot dead in an encounter with police at Kala Ghoda in South Mumbai tonight.

Police said initially, Ayub Petrol and his accomplice were stopped by the police for driving their bike at high speed at around 2130 hrs. Ayub alighted from his bike and opened two rounds of fire at the cops. In retaliatory firing, Ayub received chest and head injuries and was rushed to the J J Hospital, where he was declared dead on admission.

His accomplice managed to flee from the scene, police said.

Ayub was wanted in as many as 20 cases including attempt to murder, robbery and extortion.
