Azad discusses dev projects with PM

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here this evening and discussed development projects, including recommendations of the Rangarajan Committee, in the state.

The Rangarajan Committee report recommended transfer of the 390 MW Dulhasti Hydro Electric Project from public sector NHPC to the state government to augment power supply in the state and make accessible low level tariff. In the tourism sector, the committee highlighted the need for refurbishing in tourism infrastructure with an investment of Rs 4000 crore over the next five to seven years.

Mr Azad and Dr Singh also discussed launching market development programme for horticulture with an outlay of Rs 50 crore, constructing a satellite business city with an outlay of Rs 2000 crore, developing special investment zone, establishing an Asset Reconstruction Company and implementing the National Rural Health Mission.

The Prime Minister assured Mr Azad of Central support for development of the state.
