Zeliangrong Naga celebrate Gaan Ngai festival

Imphal, Jan 02 (UNI) Gaan Ngai festival, one of the biggest and important festivals of the Zeliangrong Naga tribe, is being celebrated with gaiety here since yesterday.

The Manipur valley and Tamenglong district, where there are large numbers of Zeliangrong people, wore a festive look.The tribe members in their traditional attire performed rituals and dances throughout the day.

This week long festival is observed for seeking God's blessing and grace for health, prosperity and success in the coming days of the year.The festival is characterised by worship, offerings, rituals mingled with traditional Songs, dance, games, feastings and entertainment.
