Workshop on restoration of dolls to begin in Dharampur Museum

Surat, Jan 2 (UNI) A unique six-day workshop to restore damaged dolls, collected from various countries like Bulgaria, Norway, Finland, France and Hungary, will begin today at Dharampur in Valsad district.

The dolls displayed at The Lady Wilson Museum at Dharmpur, will be restored in the museum premises there.

The general public can learn the basics of restoration during the workshop, museum sources said.

There are a total of 127 rare dolls, collected by Vijay Devji, a member of the erstwhile Dharampur royal family, during 1927-37, and preserved at the museum.

The priceless dolls have been damaged due to atmospheric conditions and a team from Baroda Central Museum will restore them during the workshop, sources added.
