Timescale based promotion soon in Asom: CM

Guwahati, Jan 2 (UNI) Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced that promotion of state government employees on timescale basis will be introduced soon.

He directed the Chief Secretary to come out with the details of the proposal of promotion on timescale basis within 30 days after holding necessary talks with the respective departments, a release said.

Mr Gogoi met with the delegates of the All Assam Karmachari Parishad (AAKP) at his office premises.

The chief minister informed that a hike in dearness allowance by five per cent would be paid, along with salary, from the current month itself. The arrear payment after the allowance hike for the time period of calendar year 2006 would be paid before the Rongali Bihu in April this year, he added.

He also held discussions on other problems faced by the employees and assured them to look into those matters.

The meeting was attended, among others, by state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, Chief Secretary Prafulla Kumar Sharma, AAKP's president Pradip Kumar Bora and other officials.
