Tata Motors reports 37 pc sales growth in Dec'06

New Delhi, Jan 2 (UNI) Tata Motors today reported 37 per cent growth in its sales during December 2006 at 48,792 vehicles as against 35,598 during the same month last year.

The sales during the year stood at 4,07,452 units, 33 per cent higher than 3,06,355 units, the sales made by the company last year.

The sales of commercial vehicles in December 2006 in the domestic market were 28,179 units, an increase of 50 per cent over 18,730 vehicles sold in the same period in 2005.

Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) stood at 17,274 units, clocking a growth of 55 per cent over December 2005 figures, while light commercial vehicles (LCV) saw an year-on-year growth of 43 per cent at 10,905 units.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 2,11,698 units, an increase of 48 per cent over the corresponding period in 2005.

Cumulative M&HCV sales stood at 1,22,305 units, an increase of 43 per cent over last year, while LCV sales for the period were 89,393 units, an increase of 55 per cent.

The passenger vehicle business reported a total sale of 16,515 vehicles in the domestic market in December 2006, an increase of 27 per cent over December 2005.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 1,57,010 units, an increase of 23 per cent over the previous year 2005.

The company's sales from exports were 4,098 vehicles in December 2006 as compared to 3,831 vehicles in December 2005, an increase of seven per cent.

The cumulative exports in 2006 were 38,744 units, a 10 per cent rise over figures in the year 2005.
