State level steering committee of JNNURM held today
Hyderabad, Jan 2 (UNI) The state-level Steering Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) and Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP) was held here today under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
While reviewing the laying of foundation stone for sanctioned projects, Dr Reddy emphasized it should be done expeditiously and the utilization certificate submitted to the Centre for getting the second instalment before March, 2007.
The Committee reviewed the progress of sanctioned projects and also approved new projects proposed for three cities - Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. So far, 42 projects costing Rs 1,882.82 crore had been sanctioned by the Centre under UIG and BSUP schemes for the three cities. Government of India had released Rs 266 crore as first instalment for these sanctioned projects.
In all, 22 projects costing Rs 2,995.79 crore were approved by the Committee and recommended to submit to the Centre for sanction. Out of these, seven projects costing Rs 1,359.72 crore were for Hyderabad while 10 projects costing Rs 1,033.10 crore were for Visakhapatnam and five projects costing Rs 599.97 crore were for Vijayawada.
