Spl schemes for women entrepreneurs in Haryana

Chandigarh, Jan 2 (UNI) Haryana Women Development Corporation plans to assist 12,070 women by providing them Rs 2.44 crore as subsidy and Rs 3.84 crore as margin money to enable them take up their own ventures.

Haryana Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi today said the Corporation had taken several new initiatives to raise the socio-economic status of the women.

It also had a scheme to train 500 women at the Apparel Training Design Centre, Gurgaon in cutting, tailoring and designing for manufacture of readymade garments, she said.

Also, there was a plan to impart training to 500 women in computer applications through Haryana Electronics Development Corporation (HARTRON).

She said the Corporation had provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 3.17 crore to 97 Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) so as to impart training to the poor and needy women to enable them upgrade their skills.

This assistance has been provided under a scheme being implemented with the help of Norwegian Agency for International Development.

Mrs Kartar Devi said that under another scheme being implemented by the Corporation with similar objectives, 23 proposals had been recommended to the Central Government for its sanction. These proposals involved a total project cost of Rs 20.95 crore.
