SL Tigers say air raides killed 15 civilians
Colombo, Jan 2: Sri Lanka Tamil Tiger rebels said that 15 civilians were killed in air strikes by government forces in the northwest of the island today.
The military confirmed the air strikes but said they were targeted at a Sea Tiger base in Mannar and another rebel position in the eastern area of Vakarai. It did not comment on casualties.
A Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) military spokesman said the strikes destroyed dozens of civilians' houses in Mannar.
''There are 15 dead bodies and 25 wounded from the bombing,'' said R Ilannthirayan.
