Shivering cold in Sikkim

Gangtok, Jan 2 (UNI) Sikkim is reeling under intense cold after the maximum temperature nose dived to 11.2 degree Celsius, which is three degrees below the normal.

The state experienced snowfall in higher hills during the last 24 hours.

The local Met office, however, recorded the minimum temperature at 6.8 degree Celsius, two degrees above the normal. Experts said the minimum temperature was above normal due to cloudy sky.

The state recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degree Celsius, the lowest recorded this year on December 13.

The weather office predicted cloudy sky, possibility of rain and a few spells of shower in a few places and valley fog in higher hills during the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature will be around six degree Celsius tomorrow, it said.
