PM arrives to inaugurate Indian Science Congress

Chennai, Jan 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was given a warm reception at the Airport when he arrived here tonight to inaugurate the Indian Science Congress at Chidambaram in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu tomorrow.

Dr Singh, accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Kapil Sibal and E V K S Elangovan, was received by Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, his ministerial colleagues and top civil and police officials.

On arrival by a special IAF Boeing, the Prime Minister drove down to Raj Bhavan for overnight stay here. He is scheduled to leave for Chidambaram by an helicopter tomorrow morning to inaugurate the Science Congress.

Those who present at the airport to receive Dr Singh included Union Minister G K Vasan, TNCC President M Krishnasamy, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader Dr S Ramadoss and MDMK MPs A Ravichandran and C Krishnan.

After inaugurating the Congress, being held at Annamalai University, Dr Singh would return here at 1230 hrs tomorrow to leave for Delhi.
