M&M vehicle sales up 39.5 pc

Mumbai, Jan 2 (UNI) Utility vehicles and tractor major Mahindra&Mahindra has posted sales of 14557 vehicles in December, a rise of 39.5 per cent over the same period last fiscal.

Announcing this, a company press release said the total vehicle sales, including exports, rose 38.2 per cent to 15132 numbers.

Cumulative vehicle sales, including exports, for April-December'06 were 123,982 numbers as against 105,665 last fiscal, a growth of 17.3 per cent.

The all new Scorpio especially clocked very good numbers, hitting volumes of 3397 including exports and in the process registered a growth of 24 per cent over the corresponding month last fiscal.

Cumulative Scorpio sales rose by 21 per cent over last fiscal.

Meanwhile, the company's farm equipment sector has posted a growth of 22 per cent in tractor sales over the corresponding month last fiscal. In absolute terms, the company's total sales volumes of tractors for the month stood at 6759 including exports, a 21 per cent rise over last fiscal.

Cumulative sales (April to December) also saw a healthy rise of 25 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal. It also posted a growth of 25 per cent in sales including exports clocking 79,053 numbers in the April-December period. Cumulative exports grew 18 per cent in the same period.
