Meghalaya govt lays emphasis on rural development, Rymbai

Shillong, Jan 2 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai said his government has laid emphasis on developing rural areas and improving the status of life of the people through economic empowerment.

Mr Rymbai said this during his visit to Kdonghulu village, his birth place in Ri-Bhoi district recently. The local durbar (panchayat) of Kdonghulu and Raid Iapngar village felicitated for assuming the office of the head of state.

Expressing happiness to associate himself with the people of Kdonghulu, the Chief Minister urged the people to cooperate with all developmental initiatives of the Government.

Mr Rymbai stressed on the importance of judicious exploitation of natural resources and the need to promote tourism in the state.
