Left Front observes protest death condeming Saddam's execution
Kolkata, Jan 2 (UNI) Protesting against the execution of toppeled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and shouting slogans against US President George Bush, the ruling Left Front in West Bengal today observed a protest day across the state holding street meetings and organising processions.
Decrying the ''agressor US imperialism'', the speakers addressing the meetings alleged that the trial of the former Iraqi President was a ''farce made by a puppet government at the behest of George Bush'' and it defied the international law.
State Tourism Minister Manab Mukherjee and CPI(M) State Committee member Rabin Deb were among other leaders, who addressed the meetings.
In the city altogether 17 street corner meetings were organised as part of the Left Front's programme.
Reports of similar meetings and processions came from the districts also.
