KLNLF announces 41-hours KA bandh on poll eve
Diphu, Jan 2 (UNI) The proscribed KLNLF today called for a 41-hour Karbi Anglong bandh on January 4 is a bid to check the use of 'money and muscle power' to influence voters in the January 6 Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council(KAAC) election.
KLNLF 'publicity secretary' Phong Terong informed over the telephone that the bandh call was to help the financially weak parties contesting the KAAC polls.
The outfit warned the parties to refrain from using ''money and muscle power'' to influence voters at the last minute.
The group had earlier issued a boycott call for the elections, stating that the polls were ''meaningless'' until the district was given 'self-determination'. It had, however, since then softened its stand and urged the voters to vote with their conscience.
