Kerala Govt should own responsibility for parapet damage:PMK

Chennai, Jan 2 (UNI) Expressing shock over damage caused to the main parapet wall of Mullaiperiyar Dam, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader Dr S Ramadoss today said Kerala Government should own up responsibility for the damage and Tamil Nadu should bring this to the notice of Supreme Court.

In a statement here, he said the 'sabotage' could not have been caused without the knowledge of Kerala Police, who were posted on security duty at the Dam. Kerala Government should own up full responsibility for this.

He said Kerala, which was already 'spreading disinformation' about the safety of the Dam, damaged the wall in a bid to add strength to their campaign.

When Tamil Nadu had taken the initiatives to find a negotiated settlement to the issue as suggested by the Supreme Court, the Kerala Government was indulging in dilatory tactics by resorting to such acts, he alleged.

He said when the matter comes up before the apex court on January five, Tamil Nadu should bring to the court's notice the damage caused to the parapet wall. The state should also make it clear that there was no point in further continuing the talks and take steps to get a final verdict on the issue.

Condemning the Kerala Government, Dravidar Kazhagam President K Veeramani demanded that Tamil Nadu should ask Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to provide security to the Dam by deploying Central forces.
