Haryana scores 238 for seven on day one
Rajkot, Jan 2 (UNI) An unbeaten partnership of 105 runs between Sandeep Singh (44) and Amit Mishra (61) enabled Haryana to 238 for seven on the first day of the four-day Elite group A Ranji match at the Madhavrao Scindia ground here.
Electing to bat first, the visitors started poorly, losing seven wickets for 133 runs before Sandeep Singh and Amit Mishra steadied the innings. The duo played sensibly and kept the scoreboard ticking, and added unbeaten 105 runs for the eighth wicket. Rebutant Nitin Saini, scored 35 studded with four boundaries.
Buoyed by their first win against Delhi, the hosts dominated Haryana in the first two sessions. The bowlers made the visiting batsmen struggle with their accurate bowling.
The pick of the bowlers was left-arm Spinner Rakesh Dhruve who claimed four wickets for 71 runs. Seamers -- S Jobanputra and S Maniar scalped one wicket each by conceding 37 and 41 runs resp.
Another spinner Kamlesh Makwana also took one wicket for 35 runs.
Amit Sharma survived the last over of the day when R Jadeja grassed his catch in second slip off left-arm spinner R Dhruve. He batted for 144 minutes and hit four boundaries and one six off 117 balls. Sandeep Singh's unbeaten knock of 44 included four boundaries.
