Haryana plans Rs 900 crore diversification scheme
Chandigarh, Jan 2 (UNI) The Haryana Government has forwarded a Rs 900 crore scheme to the Union Ministry of Agriculture for the diversification of crops in the state so that farmers could get remunerative prices of their produce.
Haryana Agriculture Minister H S Chatha today said that under the scheme three lakh hectares of land would be diversified.
He said the Haryana government had also earmarked a sum of Rs 162.31 crore to promote agriculture and allied activities during the current financial year and out of this a sum of Rs 57.54 crore had already been spent.
Mr Chatha said a sum of Rs 172 crore had also been earmarked for the rural development in the state and out of this a sum of Rs 69.41 crore had already been incurred.
Similarly, a sum of Rs 213 crore had been spent for strengthening the irrigation system and flood control in the State.
