Ford India posts 87 per cent growth in sales
Mumbai, Jan 2 (UNI) Ford India has sold 42,060 units for the period from January to December 2006, as compared to 22,526 units during the same period last year and posted an overall growth of 87 per cent.
Ford India sold 1,983 units in the month of December 2006. Due to steady rise in the cost of raw materials and fuel prices, starting January 1, 2007, the prices of Fiesta and Endeavour have been hiked by one per cent to 2.3 per cent. Price hike for Ford's Fusion and Ikon models is also under consideration, a release issued by the company said here today.
Established in 1996, Ford India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader. Ford India manufactures and distributes automobiles made at its modern integrated manufacturing facility, at Maraimalai Nagar, near Chennai. With over 1,900 employees, the company's models include the Ikon, Fusion, Endeavour, Mondeo and the Fiesta. Ford India is in its tenth year of operations in the country, the release added.
