Ford India posts 87 per cent growth for Jan-Dec

Kolkata, Jan 2 (UNI) Ford India has posted an overall growth of 87 per cent and sold 42,060 units during January to December, 2006 as compared to 22,526 units in the same period last year.

A company release today said it sold 1,983 units in December only. ''Due to steady rise in the cost of raw materials and fuel prices, starting January 1, 2007, prices of Fiesta and Endeavour have been hiked by one per cent to 2.3 per cent. Price hike for Ford's Fusion and Ikon is also under consideration,'' it said.

Ford India manufactures and distributes automobiles made at its modern integrated manufacturing facility at Maraimalai Nagar near Chennai. With over 1900 employees, the company's models include the Ikon, Fusion, Endeavour, Mondeo and the Fiesta.

Ford India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader.
