Cong ridicules INLD for its support to BJP in Punjab
Chandigarh, Jan 2 (UNI) Haryana Congress working president Ram Prakash today ridiculed the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) for announcing support to the BJP candidates in Punjab assembly elections even as the two parties had severed ties in Haryana.
The INLD of former Haryana Chief Minister had recently announced that it would support BJP nominees in those seats in Punjab which would not be contested by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
The INLD had also announced support to the SAD in the assembly polls.
''The INLD needs to give a clarification to the people whether its alliance with the BJP is still intact. The BJP in Haryana says it will have no truck with the INLD. In that case, the INLD's support to the BJP in Punjab is incomprehensible,'' Dr Ram Prakash said while talking to reporters here today.
He also blamed the INLD and its parent organisation Lok Dal for obstructing the construction of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal by opposing the Rajiv-Longowal accord.
To a question, he said the Congress government in Haryana was committed to the formation of a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) for the state as promised in its manifesto.
He said the Hooda government had fulfilled most of the promises made in the Congress manifesto in less than two years after assuming power in the state.
The party, he said, would organise a massive rally in Sirsa on February 25 on completion of two years of the Hooda government.
